How to Replace a Fridge Water Filter – Rangemaster

Common in most homes now a days are the larger American style fridge freezers, and a bonus of having one in your home is the inclusion of fresh, filtered water.

However over time the filter requires replacing - often recommended to be replaced every 6 months, some people may choose to leave the filter as it may seem like a daunting task. Luckily we at eSpares are here to help advise you just how simple it is to replace.

This video shows an example on how to remove or replace the part on a typical machine, some models may be different but the procedure should be similar.

Safety First! Please make sure that you've switched off your appliance and disconnected it from the mains before beginning any repair.

What You Will Need:

Step 1 - Locate the filter and turn off the water valve

Usually located behind the fridge - you may need to pull the fridge freezer out. Found on the bottom of the back of the appliance or occasionally held by a bracket connected to the wall.

Before you begin you will need to locate the water valve and shut it off or you could end up with a flooded kitchen. To find the valve follow the water tube from the filter and you will see the valve. If you can't find a dedicated valve, you need to turn off the main water supply,

Step 2 - Identify if it is a push fitting or twist fitting

There are two types of filters for some large side by side fridge freezers. A twist type and push fit type. The twist type simply screws onto the tube at either end and the the push-on type the supply tube pushes into the filter and locks in place.

Once you have identified the filter type you can begin to remove the original filter and replace it with the new one.

Step 3 - Installation of new filter

Depending on the type of filter - install the new and turn the water supply back on by either the dedicated water valve or water mains.

There you have it, you can now continue to enjoy fresh, cold, crisp clean water. Not sure on the filter you need? Don’t fret see our range of fridge freezer replacement filters to see if you can find the correct part you.
