What is the difference between a water pump and a white pump and float cover?
I've been told that there is a problem with the pump unit and it's costly to have repaired.If the second of the two mentioned above does the same job why is there such a price difference?Thankyou.

This item is the part that covers the float and pump, the pump is a separate part, you will need to identify if the pump has failed with a meter before suspecting anything else.
