Installing element

Before I order this part, would I be right in assuming you just have to undo the recessed nut to remove the old element and then replace? I'll worry about how I undo that recessed nut later :-) Also, my washing machine isn't warming up but testers seemed to indicate the element is still working. If it isn't the element what else might it be? Thanks if anyone can help.
