No if the compressor was failing it would run for longer and produce more heat and thus evaporate the water better. It is 14 months since your first question and again we are in a cold period were the fridge does not need to work hard. In addition if you drive a car you may have noticed how the windows are steaming up a lot at the moment due to the high humidity and cold surfaces. This is what is happening to your fridge, Like your car windows the problem is likely to be cured by an increase in ambient temperature.

  • since its been in the same position for 12 years could it be that the compressor is at fault.the fridge stands in a cool utiliy room. By jim - 5,ln139ps - 20 January 2014

There may be a number of factors causing your problem. The reason why this occurs is due to more ice building up and less evaporation then the appliance is expecting. The causes of extra ice is down to high humidity and poor ventilation so improve by opening windows not drying washing on radiators and possibly investing in a dehumidifier to reduce surrounding moisture. The fridge is probably expecting to be in a warm kitchen with an average temperature above 50f if this is cooler then the compressor does not need to run as long and does not help to evaporate the water as much causing flooding.

We bought this unit in Spain and is in Spain .we noticed water leaking as above. I checked the freezer temp as it did not seem to be as cold as to the -18 to which it is set ,the temp was only -12 I lowered the stat to -20 and the temp got down to -18 and it seemed that there was less water leaking but still there. The unit is around 10 years old. Any thoughts?

The number quoted is for the first part of the serial number and does not indicate the model. See our videos: How to fix a leaking fridge : www.espares.co.uk/advice/2/1433/how-to-fix-a-leaking-fridge and How to diagnose a fault with a frost free fridge freezer : www.espares.co.uk/advice/2/2113

This is not shown on Bosch's exploded diagrams but as it is marked as a defrost sensor it should be fitted on or near to the freezer evaporator.

Error E2 we believe indicates a sensor that is foamed into the insulation and very difficult to repair without previous experience in this area. Try fully defrosting and allowing to dry out for a few days. If the problem returns you may be better on this occasion to contact Bosch themselves as many engineers are not familiar with this repair.
